This electric barrier consists of plastic brackets (insulators) that are glued onto the protected surface (such as a window ledge or roof) at intervals of 35 cm. The brackets are made of Makrolon (polycarbonate). Circular stainless steel rods (2 mm in diameter) are inserted into the insulators and connected to each other with springs. An electric voltage of approximately 5,000 volts at 16 mA is transmitted through the rods. As a result, pigeons are permanently deterred from landing on the protected surfaces—without being harmed. The system is highly effective in repelling birds, especially pigeons, crows, sparrows, and others.
